Tour Plan

Your adventure begins early in the morning as you depart from Dar es Salaam, embarking on a scenic 6-hour drive through Tanzania’s countryside towards Mikumi National Park. Along the way, you’ll pass through local villages, rolling hills, and picturesque landscapes before reaching the park by midday.

Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch before heading out for an afternoon game drive, where you’ll explore the park’s open plains, acacia woodlands, and seasonal waterholes. Mikumi is home to an abundance of wildlife, including large herds of elephants, giraffes, zebras, impalas, wildebeests, and the elusive big cats such as lions and leopards. As the sun sets, you’ll visit the famous hippo pool, where hippos, crocodiles, and water birds gather in their natural habitat.

After an eventful day in the wild, you’ll check in at your lodge or tented camp for dinner and a peaceful overnight stay in the heart of the African bush.

After an early breakfast, you will depart Mikumi for a short drive to Udzungwa Mountains National Park, one of Tanzania’s most biodiverse regions. Unlike traditional safari parks, Udzungwa is a tropical rainforest paradise, home to endemic species such as the Iringa red colobus monkey and the Sanje crested mangabey.

The highlight of the day is a guided hike through the dense jungle, leading you to the stunning Sanje Waterfalls—one of the tallest in Tanzania, cascading down 170 meters. The hike offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Kilombero Valley, and at the base of the falls, you’ll have the chance to take a refreshing swim in the natural pools.

After a picnic lunch in the midst of nature, you will descend and return to Mikumi in the late afternoon for relaxation, dinner, and another overnight stay at your safari camp or lodge.

On the final day, you’ll set off on an early morning game drive, taking advantage of the best wildlife viewing hours when predators are most active. As you traverse Mikumi’s landscapes, keep an eye out for buffalo, antelopes, warthogs, baboons, and the park’s rich birdlife. With a bit of luck, you may spot a pride of lions on the hunt or a leopard resting in the acacia trees.

After a fulfilling morning in the wild, you’ll return to your lodge for breakfast before starting the journey back to Dar es Salaam. A stop for lunch en route will provide a chance to reflect on your incredible adventure before arriving in the city in the late afternoon, marking the end of an unforgettable 3-day safari.
